For me Disney has always had a special connection with Christmas. And since it’s almost a month to Christmas, I decided to watch some of my favorite Disney movies on Disney Plus. This got me thinking, does everyone associate Christmas and Disney? To understand this, I decided to look at the trend on Digimind and sure enough there were almost 500k people talking about Disney Plus in December, which is more than twice of how many people were talking about it in November.
To understand further I decided to see the how people were feeling during this one month (22nd November 2020- 31st December 2020). This search got me some interesting results which helped me strengthen my theory that Disney is often linked with Christmas. If we look at the emoticons used by the users in between November 2020 to 31st December 2020, then we can see the Christmas Tree, fire, star, presents which are all associated to Christmas.
This signifies how Disney has established itself as a brand. When people hear Disney, they think of comfort and quality time spent with family. During Christmas when everyone wants to spend some time with their family and friends, then what better way to do than to watch a good old Disney movie of Disney Plus. Since Disney is deeply connected to our childhood memories, we want to relive those moments with our friends and family during this time of the year. Isn’t this what every brand wants, to be a part of family tradition? Disney has set up itself as a part of family traditions many years ago and it still continuous to do so.
