Digimind Report: HBO

/ DIGIMIND

In the past couple of years, a lot of changes took place in the world. They force countries to immediately transform their interactions with citizens to become more digital. The same thing happened to the company. With the outbreak of the Covid-19 and all its consequences, a lot of companies found themselves in severe need to develop immediate more advanced social media strategies in order to remain in touch with their customers as well as save their revenue stream from sinking even more.

Companies needed to know more how they are performing in comparison to their competitors in this new situation. In order to reach this, tools such as social listening was used. It is basically the process of monitoring social media channels for the brand’s mentions, products, competitors and more. Social listening gives brands the chance to track, analyze and respond to conversations happening about them on the different social media platforms. One of the companies that provide this service is Digimind and in this report we will examine how HBO has been performing digitally in the past 3 months (August 9th 2021 to November 9th 2021). All data is for content written in English.

If we check the sentiment, we will notice that HBO was mentioned 46% of the time positively while only 27% was negative and 27% neutral.

The following are some samples of what the audience is mentioning HBO in.

It appears that some users are mad at the brand because of login/connection difficulties they are facing when using the HBO MAX app.

The conversations were held by users from different professions such as photographers, writers, directors and creators. Although it is not necessarily an indication of anything, it is still worth mentioning that it is interesting to see that the highest number of conversations was held by users working in the artistic field like the ones mentioned.

If we look at the key concept/keywords the users used when talking about HBO, we will find that they were interested the most in HBO Max expansion in Europe. They were also interested talking about the famous series “House of Dragon” and used different words that might be more or less related such as “season” and “blood”.

The hashtags used the most are more or less similar to the keywords. They include “House of the Dragon” and “HBO Max Europe” in the top 5.

It is possible that the release of “House of Dragon” has played part in shaping the data shown. Based on some basic research, the series is very similar in genre to “Game of Thrones.”.
